The Paper House
WHAT IS THE PAPER HOUSE?
The Paper House is the organized and run by Hope Cartelli and Jeff Lewonczyk, They asked me, as they ask many artists, performers, and makers to help install and make some art for the event. This year I made trees for the four seasons themes that became the structure for others to collaborate and build upon. This evolving, communal art installation that takes place in a house on Governors Island over the month of August. Spanning four themed rooms, the house will develop over time through the work of participating artists and the general public, using only simple materials like paper, cardboard, tape and crayon. Anyone who enters the Paper House is invited to leave their mark on it, by adding their own paper creations to the walls and other objects, by drawing on the paper walls and exhibits, or by crafting their own objects to rest on the floors, in the fireplaces, or anywhere else in the house. http://thepaperhousenyc.com/ |
