Manual Mastery Malfunction

Hands, tools, time

Manual Mastery Malfunction was performed at Power Arts Gallery, Wayne, NJ. The performer approaches a cement lump surrounded by a circle of fist shaped objects and a wooden handle. The fists are sledge hammer heads. The performer fits the hammer heads on the handle and attempts to break the cement lump. The hammer fails, flying off the handle and smashing against the ground. This repeated failure to break rocks speaks to our personal history. A long list of failures that we learn to ignore and try again.
